A political series of photographs on the intentional sameness of this most controversial site. Scene of hunger strikes, mass breakouts, murders and ceasefire negotiations, parts of the building are now listed. The photographer spent over 100 days on site while it was being slowly decommissioned. Absence seems to be the underlying atmosphere and a generic pathos that goes with empty institutional buildings. The disorientating repetition of almost similar cells, corridors and courtyards gives this work its power rather than any individual image, although you've got to wonder about the curtains...
